Our hero, Bob Evans, passed away on May 5th, 2024 at the age of 73 in Bakersfield, CA. Bob was born on October 16th, 1950 in Bakersfield, CA to Louis Evans and Kathleen Kelley. Bob graduated from South High School with the Class of ’68. During his high school years, Bob ran track and played football.
Bob met the love of his life, Faye Silva, in December 1970 and were married on October 23rd, 1971. Bob and Faye have been married over 52 fun-filled years. Bob and Faye are blessed with two children, Jason and Darnell, and one grandchild, Tyler Thompson, who is the apple of Bob’s eye. Bob is survived by his two sisters, Gail Lucas and Jackie McClure, his brother, Cary Evans, and his step mother, Judy Evans.
Bob started working for Shell Oil in January 1981, which later became Cal-Resources, and then Aera Energy. Bob retired from Aera Energy in 2016 from the Investment Recovery Team after working for the company for over 35 years.
Bob loves the outdoors. Every summer, he always planned family camping trips where he would go fishing during the day and tell his famous, hilarious Ranger Bob stores at night by the campfire. Bob loves his sports. Bob always has the TV on if his beloved San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, and the Boston Celtics were paying. Every weekend, Bob always has a NASCAR race on rooting for the Penske drivers. When his favorites sports are not, the TV was always on playing black and white westerns every afternoon.
Bob is a hero in many ways in his family’s eyes. Bob always tackles any obstacle that is in his way with a positive mindset, no matter how negative the situation is. Bob has always been loved and will continue to be loved while he is on his next big adventure until we all get to join him on that big adventure. There are truly no good-byes, only until we meet again.
