Michael James Lawrence

January 30, 1971-November 11, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael James Lawrence. Mike, as we all called him, was born January 30th 1971 and left this earth on Thursday November 11th, 2021 at the age of 50.

Mike was such an outgoing person and loved being around people. He was constantly helping out his family and friends on any project that they needed completed. Mike loved the time he spent with Gina over the last twenty years and he would always say that she took the best care of him. They were the cutest on the dance floor, where Mike thought he had the best moves. He enjoyed watching football on Sundays, especially watching his Eagles win. He would also watch Nascar on Sundays and was an avid Jeff Gordon fan until he retired, and then he started rooting for Chase Elliot which sparked his kitten's name, Chase. He was a die hard Dodger fan and loved traveling to Los Angeles to watch them play. He also enjoyed watching his youngest, Brooke, play softball in both highschool and college. Mike had a small zoo at his house, and loved all of his animals. He enjoyed playing with his dogs Ozzie and Ellie and his cats, Whisper, Moo, Chase and Cruella. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and friends. A hobby of his was to take his son and grandkids fishing, and his dog Ozzie would always tag along with them. He loved getting together and watching a game and having a cold Budweiser while cooking up asada on the BBQ. Mike lived his life to the fullest, and always had a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Mike was preceded in death by his father James “Jimmy” Lawrence, mother Ellen Gill, brother Darin Lawrence, and son Alexander Pena. He was survived by his wife Gina Pena, son Brett Lawrence, daughter and son-in Law Breanna and Billy Leuth, daughters Bailey and Brooke Lawrence, daughter and son-in Law Aricka and Kevin Kent, Daughter Arianna Pena, and Son Aaron Pena. Grandchildren, Oliver Lawrence, Keyrah, Lylah, Addelynn, Brayden, Colson, and Trystyn. Liam and Haley Kent, Nathan, Bella and Rosie Pena. Sisters- Kimberly Gill and Andrea Avery; Sister in Law Carla Pendergraft. Step-Father-Gregory Gill and Step-Mother Karen Lawrence, Niece/Nephew-in law- Nicole & Josh Spears & Nephew Christopher Lawrence; as well as many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins who loved him dearly.

Michael’s memorial service will be held at Hillcrest Mortuary on December 2, 2021 at 9am. There will be a viewing on December 2,2021 from 8-9am. Flowers & cards may be sent to the funeral home located at 9101 Kern Canyon Road, 93306 and addressed to “The Family of Michael Lawrence”. Thank you.

A visitation for Michael will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 8:00 AM to 8:55 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
