Marilyn Barbara Hoffman

Beloved wife of James W. Hoffman and Loving Mother to Lori Patterson-Hoffman (Connie) and Glen Patterson (deceased).

Marilyn was born in Jefferson City, Missouri to Frank and Genevieve Schroeder. She was the youngest of 7 children (Berniece, Ray, Art, Richard, Vernita and Sam).

When she was 6 months old the family decided to head west and landed in Wasco, CA. Marilyn attended St. John's Catholic School and Wasco Union High School where she excelled in every club and sport offered, she even got an education along the way.

After high school, Marilyn moved to Bakersfield and began her career in the Title Insurance Industry, which is where she met her husband Jim with whom she shared her life with for 45 years.

Marilyn retired as an Escrow Officer at Chicago Title, which is where Jim worked also. They both made lifelong friends at work. Marilyn loved and adored here work family and they her.

Through retirement Marilyn and Jim were afforded the opportunity to travel, taking numerous cruises to Alaska, Panama Canal, Curacao, Puerto Rico and Hawaii. They also traveled frequently to Washington D.C, Hawaii and Tucson, AZ to visit their daughter Lori and daughter-in-law, Connie. The itinerary on these visits included participating in a Race for the cure 5K on the Mall in D.C., attending a Redskins game, cruising on a houseboat on Smith Lake, Glamping in Roanoke, scuba diving on the coasts of Oahu and Maui and always, always visiting a casino or two.

Marilyn was an expert at crocheting and created over 200 blankets which she donated to The Shriners Children's Hospital. As aforementioned, she also loved to go to Casinos where she continued her giving spirit by donating her money to numerous native American tribes. Though Marilyn was a very good cook and an even better baker, she loved to go out to dinner. Her motto later in life was I only have a kitchen because it came with the house.

During the most trying times in her life, Marilyn's faith in God never faltered. Adjectives that best describe her would be: Most Loving (unconditional), Caring, Compassionate, Gracious, and a woman who had a great sense of humor.

Beloved Wife, Mother and Friend, though our hearts are still aching because we miss you terribly we know this is not goodbye but farewell until we meet up with you in Heaven.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 28, 11:00am at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd, 93306 with a Luncheon Reception to follow at Hodel's. Graveside Committal will be on Monday, January 31 at 10:00am at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
