Glenn David Crowson

Glenn David Crowson, 78, of Bakersfield, passed away on April 4, 2023. Glenn was born on August 25, 1944, to Jack & Geneva Crowson in Kiowa, Oklahoma. After Glenn graduated from Burroughs High School in 1962, he went on to study cosmetology at Federico’s Beauty College.

After graduating from beauty college, he began a 58-year career in cosmetology. In 1964, Glenn met the love on his life Lanna Smith at Federico’s Beauty College – he was one of her instructors. He proposed later that year with a cigar band serving as an engagement ring. Glenn & Lanna and Ron & Shirley Ely opened the Stair Way to Beauty Salon in 1969. They are thankful for the friendship and support of their loyal customers.

Glenn was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, bridge, and dancing. He was always busy. He enjoyed baseball and was a lifelong Dodgers’ fan.

Glenn is preceded in death by his parents Jack & Geneva Crowson, his in-laws Gene & Ilene Smith, his brother Ret. MSG Jackie Wade Crowson, his sister Betty Fowler and nephew Blake Williams.

Glenn is survived and missed by his loving wife Lanna of 57 years; brother-in-law Bob Smith (Rita); sisters-in-law Linda Blackwell and Mary Crowson; niece Janie Williams (Charlie); nephew Jack Wade Crowson (Tammy); cousin in-law Lori Netherton and numerous grand nieces and nephews. His memory will be cherished by the Crowson and Smith families.

A funeral service for Glenn will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary at 1:00 PM, visitation begins at 12:30. A Graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will occur Monday, April 24, 2023 at Red Pepper Restaurant from 12:00 to 3:00PM, 2641 Oswell St G, Bakersfield, California 93306.

A funeral service for Glenn will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A celebration of life will occur Monday, April 24, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Red Pepper Restaurant, 2641 Oswell St G, Bakersfield, California 93306.

Serving as pallbearers are Mike Hicks, Russell Kenny, Adam Netherton, Tommy Mathers, Terry Netherton, Bob Smith, Charlie Williams, David Rangle and Gilbert Sapedra.
