Francis D. Rule, 94, passed away at home on January 27, 2015 in Bakersfield. He was born May 19, 1920 in Hanna, Oklahoma to Mark and Inice Rule. He grew up near Eufaula, Oklahoma where he met Adlee Graham and they married July 8, 1939. They were happily married for 75 years and lived in the Bakersfield area for 70 years.
Francis worked various jobs around Kern County as a route salesman for Morning Fresh Bakery, Durkee Foods, and United States Consumer Products. He also drove a city bus in Bakersfield. He and his wife Adlee owned two cafes, The Dinner Bell on Eye Street and Fox Coffee Shop by the Fox Theater in Bakersfield for several years.
Francis is survived by his wife Adlee of Bakersfield, daughter Wauneta and husband Richard Salberg of Ventura, California; son Earl and wife Ginny of Woffords Heights, California; son Carl and wife Brenda of Thousand Oaks, California and sister Bette Sloan of Parump, Nevada. He was blessed with three children, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild due in February along with many nieces and nephews.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents Mark and Inice Rule, brother Amon Rule, sisters Lena Mae Smithee, Eloise Bess and Mary Bess.
He and wife Adlee attended Assembly of God Churches in the Bakersfield area for 60 plus years. They attended Riverview Assembly in Oildale.
Viewing will be held at Mish Funeral Home in Oildale at 12:00pm (noon), Tuesday, February 3rd with services following at 1:00pm. A graveside service will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery.
