Bakersfield
Flora passed away peacefully at home after a 16 year battle with Parkinson's. She was born in Bakersfield and attended Jefferson Elementary, Washington Jr. High, and graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1952. She earned her BA, MA and teaching credential from Cal State Bakersfield. She worked for the Bakersfield City School District for 26 years. At the time of her retirement she was a Curriculum Specialist at Eissler Elementary.
She was preceded in death by her parents Juan Ramos and Maria Rivas, her brothers Ernie, Richie, and grandson Georgie.
She is survived by her loving husband Thomas of 68 years and her children Terri (George), Tom (Mari), Cindy, and Chrys (Patrick), 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Her sisters Nellie, Mary, Olga, brother Oscar and several members of the Garcia and Ramos families.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank her wonderful caregivers Amber, Esmeralda and Jarelly, who showed so much love and compassion while caring for her during these past six years. We'd like to also thank Dr. Parvez Memon, Traditions and Hoffmann Hospice.
Though she is gone, we will carry her in our hearts forever.
A visitation for Flora will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM With a Rosary starting at 6:00PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A funeral service will occur Friday, May 5, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 124 Columbus Street, Bakersfield, CA 93305. A graveside service will occur Friday, May 5, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
