It is with heavy hearts the family of Dale Lambert announces his passing at 71 years old on Thursday evening July 18th, 2024, in Bakersfield California. Born Calvin Dale Lambert, he went by his middle name Dale since he was a child. Dale was surrounded by his loving wife Carolyn Lambert and eldest son Justin.
Dale was born on September 3rd, 1952, brought into this world in Escondido California by his mother Ella Lambert and father Julius Calvin Lambert aka ‘Tex’. The family soon resided in Riverside where Dale would grow up into adulthood. He loved to play baseball as a youngster and loved all things with an engine. At 11 years old Dale wanted a motorized scooter, his parents couldn’t afford one so with determination and ingenuity, he built one himself out of an old broken-down lawn mower. His passion became anything with a fuel burning engine that goes fast. If you know him personally, all the above makes perfect sense.
In his early 20’s living in Bishop CA, Dale worked at Jack’s Waffle shop as a cook when a young woman working as a teller at the bank he used, bearing the name badge ‘Carolyn’ struck up a conversation. Carolyn knew they shared a mutual crush on each other. As Dale deposited his paycheck one Friday at the end of the workday and asked for some cash back, Carolyn said ‘How about you use that cash back to take me out on a date tonight?’ He did and within several months they became the love of each other’s lives.
At only 25 years old, Dale was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given only 6 months to live. Obviously, he was too tough to succumb to that, he was a Christian and God gave him the strength along with steadfast doctors and he persevered.
Dale could fix and build anything. In the mid 80’s Dale decided to work for himself, he would create, repair, design, fabricate, and refine the go-fast toys of his beloved clientele. Dale became a famous boat builder where he held his most cherished memories and accomplishments. He flew all over the country to crew chief some of the fastest drag boat racing teams in the United States. One of his clients coined him ‘The Water Wizard’. He also built drag cars, and one he designed and fabricated from the ground up, the Quigley & Lambert A/Fuel Dragster, won the prestigious award of ‘Best Engineered’ at an event.
This success continued up until March of 2012 when at 59 years old, Dale suffered a massive stroke leaving his left side paralyzed and half of his brain non-functional. Doctors were stunned that he could function to the level he was able to, with the amount of damage to his brain that was suffered. Dale was blessed to have his devoted and loving wife Carolyn to help him get through the next 12 years of health struggles that came along with this kind of injury that eventually led to this moment.
Dale is survived by his wife Carolyn, sons Justin (Sarah) and Jarred (Carrie), sisters Sharon and Judy, grandchildren Tyler, Drew, Jaxx, and JJ. The family would like to thank all who touched Dale’s life. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to support stroke victims and survivors at www.stroke.org
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday August 9th, 2024 at 11:45am, located at Coconut Joe’s Banquet Hall at 4000 Easton Drive Ste 2, Bakersfield California.
