B. Joyce Patterson

July 30, 1936 – February 27, 2022

Joyce Meeks was born on July 30, 1936 to Calvin & Bernice Meeks in Bakersfield, California. She was the first of four children. She attended Kern Union High School (now Bakersfield High School). Joyce fell asleep on the evening of February 27 and peacefully left this earth. On her last day, she enjoyed her favorite meal…Chili Relleno from Mexicali. We know she is happy to be reunited with Pete.

On August 6, 1954 Joyce married her husband of 51 years Pete Patterson at Norris Road Church of Christ in Bakersfield, CA. Joyce started working part time for Home Savings and continued working full time until she retired from Washington Mutual. Joyce loved to needlepoint, read and to care for her children & grandchildren. She was a member of Jobs Daughter’s Bethel 200 and served as the treasurer while her daughters were members. She loved Christmas and cooking for her family.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Calvin (Red) Meeks, her mother, Bernice Meeks, her husband, Pete Patterson, and brother-in-law’s, Donald Patterson & Jim Davis. She is survived by two brothers and a sister, Dennis (Pam), Leon (Dixie) Meeks & Sue Davis. Her children, Debbie Thomas (Donald) & Julie Patterson (Jamie). Her grandchildren, Brian Thomas (Nicole) & Mindy Levig (Erik). She also had six great-grandchildren; Kathryn Thomas, Davyn Levig, Ella Thomas, Logan Levig, Kinsey Thomas & Evan Levig. Her two nephew’s Jim (Beverly) Johnson, Art (Candy) Davis and niece Tawnya (Larry) Murcavitch. As well as her great nephew Eric Garland and numerous other great nieces & nephews.
