The eldest of five sisters, Cookie was born on August 19, 1948, to the late Eileen and Edward Szychowski. Cookie graduated from West Babylon High School in 1965. She liked helping others via working in healthcare, childcare, emergency dispatch, and insurance, as well as volunteering as a scout leader. Cookie was a longtime faithful member of Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in West Babylon. She enjoyed going on walks, reading, camping, crafting, and visiting lighthouses.
Survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Richard Meier; son Richard Meier II (Julie); daughter Stefany MacWhorter (Todd); grandchildren Abigail, Ella, and Cameron; sisters Doreen Tomlinson and Karen Ostop (Henry); sister-in-law Maureen Mollick (Robert); as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Predeceased by her loving parents; sisters Audrey Barnes and Janice Szychowsk (Laura Giusto) sister-in-law Barbara Czajkowski (Joseph) and brother-in-law Henry “Bobby Clark” Tomlinson. She brought out the best in people and will be dearly missed.
Friends may visit on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Claude R. Boyd - Spencer Funeral Home, 448 W Main St, Babylon, NY from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Religious Service at 7:30 PM, Rev. Martin Bancroft officiating.
Funeral service Tuesday, 10:30 AM, at the funeral home until 11:00 AM when procession will leave for cemetery. Cookie will be laid to rest at North Babylon Cemetery, Livingston Ave and Sunrise Highway S Service Rd, North Babylon, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests dedicating a donation to Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
