She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Michel Poliquin; her son Marc (Noelle Bruce), and her beloved grandchildren Luke, Bennett and Arabella Bruce-Poliquin. She will also be greatly missed by her siblings Madeleine Lill, Anthony Merleau, and Patricia Glen, her brother-in-law Lauchlan Glen, as well as her many nieces and nephews. Isobel is predeceased by her parents Imelda Boisvenu and William Hermenegilde Merleau, her sister-in-law Linda Brady, and her brother-in-law Frank Lill.
Born in Maniwaki in 1935, Isobel graduated from Notre Dame Convent in Ottawa before returning to Maniwaki to help raise her siblings upon the unexpected death of their mother. After marrying Michel and having a son, Marc, they ultimately settled in Aylmer QC, where she worked for CIBC for many years. Upon her retirement, she doted on her three grandchildren, and delighted in travel, where she realized her dream of seeing England and France.
At 88 years old, hers was a life well lived, with so many amazing experiences and relationships. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral service will be held on June 7th at 11:00 am at St. Mark’s Church in Aylmer, QC, where she was a proud member of the congregation. A reception will be held at the British Hotel (71 Principale Rue, Gatineau QC J9H 3L6) following the burial. Light refreshments will be served.
