I have been so deeply saddened by Donna's passing. I think of her, and of my Uncle Manny and their precious daughters, Amanda, Sara and Elise, every day. You must all miss her so much.

Donna was special. I remember when she entered our family. I was a teenager. I had heard about her years before, as my Uncle Manny's high school sweetheart. It must not have been easy for her to enter into our massive Portuguese family, but she was so loving and attentive to us, her new nieces and nephews. I am touched by that still. 

My fondest memories of Donna were the times she and Uncle Manny welcomed me to stay overnight. The first time, I was about 16, visiting Montreal from Toronto and I brought a friend. Amanda was just a baby. As new parents, they must have had a lot on their plate. But they were both so welcoming. Donna was warm, kind, so easy to talk to, and a great cook! As a teen girl, I was drawn in by all that, and by how pretty she was! The second time was many years later, when I and my kids visited Aylmer.  I got to see her as a devoted Grandma to Amanda's adorable girls. She had a full house that weekend but was gracious and welcoming throughout.

It occurs to me that I have a third, special memory of Donna when I was about 13. She was actually not there and I had not yet even met her. It was a conversation I had with my Uncle Manny about her. The way he spoke of his love for her made a deep and lasting impression on me. When I did meet her a few years later, I was already primed to love her. 

Thank you, Donna, for loving my uncle and for being my aunt. My deepest condolences, dear Uncle Manny, Amanda, Sara and Elise. May you be comforted by those who loved her, too, and by your many wonderful memories.

I am so deeply saddened by Donna's loss it is hard to put into words. My best memories of her are of my weekend visits as a little girl and we watched the winter Olympics together. To this day, I cannot hear of the famous Battle of the Brians without thinking of her. I keep those memories close to my heart as it was because of her that I grew to love the Olympics and especially figure skating. 
Thank you Donna, for being my aunt, for the fond childhood memories, for letting me play with your precious babies, and for introducing me to delicious food my parents never bought. :)

I have known Donna for many years. She was always willing to listen  and give great advice to both children and adults.
She fought for what she thought was right and was one of the most empathetic people I have met.
I was so sorry to hear of Donna’s death . She will be sorely missed but her legacy lives on in her kind deeds and in her family.

Donna was a shining light, an empathetic soul who brought compassion and joy to the world. She was an ambassador for her family and a holder of the torch lit by those who came before her.

Donna was a wonderful lady always willing to volunteer in support of the good causes.  Donna served well as President of the Quebec Federation of Home and School Associations Inc.   I enjoyed serving on the various committees with here.  Donna will be dearly missed!

My condolences to the family. How appropriate that I heard of Donna's passing at a Home and School meeting. We shared the trip to the meetings in Montreal  for many years.
