Tom Martin, son of Thomas F. Martin, Sr. and Margaret Williams Martin, was born and raised in Chicago, IL. Tom was married to his first wife, Janice E. Martin, with whom he was blessed with 53 years of marriage until her passing. Tom married his second wife, Marjorie Johnson Martin, with whom he was again blessed with 13 years of marriage until her passing.
Tom was educated at St. Ignatius High School in Chicago, and Purdue University. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corp and was stationed in the Pacific during WWII. He spent his professional career with Shell Oil Company in various locations around the country. Upon retirement, he relocated to Lago Vista, TX where he resided for 28 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling and spending time with his friends and family. Tom was an enthusiast supporter of Purdue University athletics as well as the Chicago Cubs and the Houston Astros. He spent his later years at Lakeline Oaks Retirement Community, in Cedar Park, TX where he developed many dear friendships. He was an active parishioner of St. Mary, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lago Vista, TX.
Along with his parents, wives Jan and Marge, Tom was predeceased by his sister Joan and brother-in-law Jack Ryan, and his brother Bob and sister-in-law Pat Martin. He is survived by his children, Tom (Pam) Martin of Holland, OH, Kathy (Bo) Asmar of Laurel, MS, Pat Martin of Banner Elk, NC, Lynn (David) Bickley of Austin, TX, and Garry (Karen) Martin of Houston, TX. He is lovingly survived by his sister Judy (Jack) Clohessey of Lombard, IL , 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Tom is also survived by Marge’s five children, James, Bruce, Midge, Dave and Rick along with her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Tom’s family would like to thank the staff and residents at Lakeline Oaks Retirement Community for their love and support.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023 at St. Mary, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Lago Vista, TX. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Mass at 11:00 a.m.
