Thelma Bernice Boswell, 88, of Austin passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Austin. A native Austinite, Mrs. Boswell was born August 6, 1923 to James Dewey Mayes and Thelma Sibley. She attended Stephen F. Austin High School and was a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Education. She was a teacher in AISD for over 30 years, teaching Spanish and later as a librarian at Ridgetop Elementary School.
She married Clarence Wilbon Boswell in October, 1944 in Austin.
She was a longtime member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church of Austin, the West Austin Rotary Club along with her husband, the Eastern Star and Alpha Delta Kappa.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Clarence Wilbon Boswell.
She is survived by her son, Timothy James Boswell and his wife, Tamara, of Austin; 2 granddaughters, Michaela and Abigail Boswell.
Funeral services will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 21st of March, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas with the Rev. Dr. James Dales Rigby officiating. Interment will follow in Austin Memorial Park, Austin, Texas.
