Susan received her bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She later earned her MBA and JD from the University of Memphis, and she earned her license to practice law in Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas. Susan was also an active member of the Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis, TN, where she enjoyed volunteering, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution National Society (DAR).
Susan was a caring mother to Tripp Shubert and Jennifer Haak. She was also blessed with eight loving grandchildren. She was an avid runner and loved music, including Tina Turner, Al Green, and the Temptations. One of her favorite and most notable hobbies was traveling. During her life, she was able to experience the wonders of Africa, Greece, Vietnam, the Caribbean, Jordan, Peru, Myanmar, Paris, Italy, Hong Kong, Nepal, England, India, Russia, Egypt, and Suriname.
She is survived by her son Richard (“Tripp”) Eugene Shubert, III (Marisa Wilson Shubert) of Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter Jennifer Shubert Haak (Clint Houston Haak) of Austin, TX, and eight grandchildren: John (12), Andrew (11), Grayson (9), and Ethan Shubert (6), and Lilly (7), Hudson (5), Harper (3), and Noah Haak (3).
A graveside service for Susan will be held Monday, April 15, 2024 10:00 AM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749.
Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Susan to the National Eating Disorders Foundation.
