Shirley B. Dougherty

Shirley "Ninny" Bertal Burt Dougherty Shirley "Ninny" Dougherty 71, of Cedar Creek, Texas went on to heaven where she would be in eternal peace. She passed away the evening of April 22, 2010. She was born July 20, 1938 in San Marcos, Texas living in Austin and Cedar Creek for the remainder of her life. Shirley enjoyed time with family and her hobby of quilting. She made baby quilts for all her grand and great-grandchildren. She made each and every stitch with love for her children and grand children. Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Georgiane Harris; father, Ernest Burt; sister, Peggy Bobbit; husband, Kelly Dougherty and granddaughter, Sandra Lee Swearingen. She is survived by her 6 children: Shirley Simpson and husband, Frank of Killeen; Vanessa Swearingen of Bastrop; Theresa Trammel of Buda; Darla Gilcrease and husband, Alvin of Cedar Creek; Kelly Dougherty of Cedar Creek and Kathy White of Wharton. She is also survived by 3 sisters: Jane Spidahl and husband, Merylin; Dianne Hennis and husband, Michael and Jimmy Simek and husband, Leonard. She is also survived by her beloved pet, Amy. She had 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grand children. Viewing and visitation was at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home South Congress Saturday April 24 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held Sunday April 25 at 10:00 AM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home South Congress. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 PM at Upper Cedar Creek Cemetery on Hwy 21 in Cedar Creek, Texas. After the service, family and friends will gather at Darla and Alvin's residence, 428 High Grove Rd,. Cedar Creek for a time of remembrance.
