Ms. Rosie Lee Walker was born to Monroe Rivers and Gladys Shelby on December 26, 1937 in Giddings, Texas. She attended Manor High School and graduated in 1953. Rosie worked at The Villa Capri Hotel for 8 years until it closed in 1988. She also worked as a custodian for the State of Texas until she retired in 2002. And just to keep her occupied, she worked a few hours a week at the Girling Home Health until her ailing health.
Rosie loved to work in her garden at home, going on fishing trips, going to Bingo. Rosie loved spending time with her children, family, and friends.
She will be remembered for her bright smile that would light up a room whenever she entered, and a heart of gold which was so kind and giving of love, and for the love of her family.
Rosie was called to eternal rest on April 2, 2024.
Rosie we will keep all of your precious memories near and dear in our hearts forever. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Rosie is preceded in death by her parents; Monroe Rivers and Gladys Shelby, daughter, Patricia Rivers, sisters; Darlene Jackson, Dorthy May, and Carrie May.
Rosie leaves her precious memories to her children; Charles Ray Walker, Patrick Baylor (Maryann Alexander), Edward Lee, daughter, Debra Rivers (Michael Smith), sister, Elnora Batisee. 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of beloved family and friends.
A visitation for Rosie will be held Friday, April 19, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Fuller Sheffield Funeral Home, 2808 E Martin Luther King, Jr., Austin, Texas 78702. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, 1120 Kirk Ave, Austin, TX 78702. A final resting place will occur Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery, 3304 E. 12th Street, Austin, Texas 78721.
