Ronald Estrada Ruiz, 66, passed away Tuesday February 7th 2023. Ronald was born February 18th 1956 in Austin, Texas. He graduated from Johnston High School, class of 1974 where he played on the football team. After high school he enlisted into the military and joined the United States Navy in August 1975. He served his country for 4 years and was honorably discharged in August of 1979. After his time in the military he worked for AMD in Austin for 20+ years and then he worked part-time for the Texas Legislature.
He was an avid car enthusiast and took pride in his very own white and burnt orange ’66 Ford Mustang. He attended the Indianapolis 500 as often as he could. He loved doing yard work and growing his collection of movies & DVDs. He enjoyed many genres of music but his favorite artist was Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Ronald was a family man. He loved his mother with all his heart and was devoted to caring for her until she passed. The same love and care was shown to his brother Charles, who simply referred to him as “brother Ron”. Anything Charles needed, “brother Ron” made sure it was taken care of. In addition to his family, Ronald had a deep commitment to his faith. He had a great devotion to Our Lady of Fatima and counted on her prayers and intercession to help him get through many things in his life. He surrounded himself with prayer cards, Rosaries, candles and holy water to help express his faith.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Estrada Medina.
He is survived by his father, Johnny “Johnny Box” Ruiz (Sue); brothers John Anthony Ruiz Sr. (Edna) and Charles Xavier Cruz; niece Jessica Rositas (James); nephew John Anthony Ruiz Jr.; countless cousins, extended family and friends.
