Robert Lewis Moses, Jr., of Austin, Texas, left this life on February 1, 2022, at the age of 91. He was born in Kerrville, Texas, to Robert Lewis and Oneta Harrell Moses. The family lived in Kerrville and for a time on a homestead near Tucson, Arizona, later moving to Austin where he graduated from Austin High and later married his best friend’s sister, Virginia Ann von Rosenberg.
A graduate of New Mexico A&M University, Major Moses proudly served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in New Mexico, Okinawa, California, Germany, and Georgia. Returning to Austin after retirement, he worked for the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation.
Bob was a storyteller, making his family laugh with the enthusiasm he infused in his stories and jokes. He always had a smile on his face. He loved to travel with his family and cruises became one of his favorite ways to spend a vacation.
A longtime member of Berkeley United Methodist Church in Austin, Bob served his church as treasurer for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Virginia Ann von Rosenberg Moses, and his brother David Martin Moses.
Bob is survived by his brother, Andrew Moses; his brother in-law, Robert H. von Rosenberg and wife Sue; and his sister in-law, Frances von Rosenberg.
Pa Bob will be dearly missed by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Martin and wife Nancy and his daughter Leslie Rice and husband Mike; three grandchildren, Nancy Arredondo and husband Tom, Jennie Dawes and husband Blake, and Kara Rice; five great grandchildren, Maggie Arredondo, Molly Arredondo, Jack Arredondo, Heidi Dawes, and Lylah Grace Dawes.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 10, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Hone on South Congress. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 11, Oakwood Cemetery.
