Robert Lee Jones was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on January 2, 1941, to Cary Lee, and then was adopted at two months by Sam and Mary Frances Jones; he was the second of five siblings. He accepted Christ at an early age. He was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in 1959 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was also known as Bobby. Some of his military friends called him Cadillac and Deac.
On December 18, 1962 he enlisted in the Unites States Air Force (U.S.A.F) where he served as a Certified Aircraft Mechanic. MSgt. Jones was a Vietnam War Veteran, retiring after 24 years of service.
Robert and Mary E. Hines were high school sweethearts. On June 23, 1965, they were joined in holy matrimony. To this union three children were born: Kimberly, Patrice, and Gregory.
In addition to his military service he was employed by the State of Texas for 5 years in the Revenue Processing Division. After his state service he joined the City of Austin as a Safety Crossing Guard for 7 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Cree Tillman.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 49 years, Mary; his daughters, Kimberly Rollins, Austin, TX ;Patrice Tillman ( Bishop) Salt Lake City, UT; son, Gregory Jones, Austin, TX; four grandchildren, Brittany and Briana Rollins, Austin, TX ; Bishop IV and Shea Tillman, Salt Lake City, UT; one great-granddaughter, Brielle Weaver, Austin, TX; brother Joseph Paul Lee, sisters Gladys Youngblood, Cherry McKnight, Carbon Ann Lee all of Shreveport, LA, and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
