Robert B. "Bob" Cox passed away December 26, 2012 at the age of 78. He was born in Amarillo, Texas, on October 19, 1934, the second child of W. Burnett Cox and Jane Mast Cox. He grew up in Lamesa, Texas, graduated from Lamesa High School, Texas Tech University and the University of Texas School of Law. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta.
Mr. Cox practiced law for 32 years, first as a Briefing Attorney for the Supreme Court of Texas, as a partner in McMahon, Cox, Tidwell, Hanson & Atkins of Odessa, Texas, and as Special Counsel to McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore of Austin until his retirement. He practiced law in various courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States. He was the founding member of the Ector County Young Lawyers Association and served as Chairman of the Council of School Attorneys of the Texas School Board Association and the Chairman of the School Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. He often was a speaker and author on various legal topics.
He was a lifelong Presbyterian, serving as class teacher, Elder, Deacon and Trustee. He also served as a director and supporter of The Door of Hope Mission in Odessa.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy; a daughter, Melinda White and husband Scott; a son, Glenn Cox and wife Shawnna; and four grandsons.
