Bob was born in Schenectady, New York on March 1, 1926 to John and Hilda Clark. Upon graduation from Mont Pleasant High School in 1944, Bob joined the Navy to serve his country during World War II. After seeing action in the Battle of Okinawa and several other missions, Bob returned home to finish his education. Bob received a Bachelor’s degree in Pre-Law from Siena College and a Masters in Social Work from Boston College.
Robert D. “Duck” Clark married Barbara Erikson January 31, 1953 and recently celebrated 68 years of marriage. Bob’s career raising money for hospitals took him to many different cities including Seattle, Houston, Austin, and Dallas. Some of the highlights of Bob’s career were working in Houston with the pioneers of open heart surgery, raising money to fund Seton Hospital’s Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit and creating a golf tournament in Dallas that was part of the PGA Seniors Tour.
Robert D. “Sir Robert” Clark’s sense of humor, infectious laugh and numerous nicknames will be missed by all that have met him.
Bob enjoyed playing golf and tennis. He loved traveling to visit family and friends. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, Rotary Club, his Church Choir and numerous other organizations. He was a charter member of UT OLLI Quest program.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, John and Hilda Clark and his daughter Patricia Grubb. Robert D. “Poppy” Clark is survived by his wife Barbara, his older brother Jack Clark and wife May, his son Pete Clark and wife Sheryl, his grandchildren Kyle Clark and wife Sarah, Joshua Clark and wife Rachel, Kelsey Johnson and husband Kevin, his three great grandchildren Sawyer, James and Parker Clark.
Services will be held at Emmaus Catholic Church in Lakeway, Texas. May, 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bob’s name to repair the flooding of Emmaus’ sanctuary during recent freeze (emmausparish.org) or help preserve The Highland Lakes through Central Texas Water Coalition (centraltexaswatercoalition.org.)
