Robert Locke Browning Jr.

He is survived by his loving partner Glenda Munson, his sons Robert Locke Browning III and Stewart Redfearn Browning, Stewart's wife Melissa Browning, their children, Sophia and Owen Browning, his first wife Sarah Browning, his brother Henry Browning, and Henry's children, Becky and Richard Browning.

He grew up in Monroe, North Carolina, and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he earned his MD.

In 1960 he and Sarah traveled to Nigeria for a Smith-Kline-French foreign fellowship, focusing on contagious diseases, where he served as the doctor for a village, and she as the pharmacist.

Once he had received his MD from Chapel Hill, he served his internship at the University of Arkansas, and then joined the Navy as a medical officer stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Afterward he attended the University of Oklahoma graduate program in public health and preventive medicine, and then opened a family practice in Richardson, Texas. In Richardson, he and Sarah raised Rob and Stewart, and he served as the city health officer, and as the chief of staff and president of the local hospital.

During that period, pursuing one of his great passions, he established a ranch near Emory, Texas, where he raised Angus and harvested crops for many years. He also became the head of the Texas Angus Association.

Later, he founded an Independent Physicians Association in North Dallas, and after he finally closed his direct patient care practice, he continued as an executive in medical management in any number of capacities until 2019.

While living in Sunset Valley, he became involved in in the local community and served on the city council. In his free time he enjoyed gardening, working outside, poetry, collecting art, and spending time with his family and friends.

Bob had a joie de vivre, and could light up a room. He lived a full, rewarding life and touched many other lives along the way. His sense of humor and his irrepressible energy were infectious, and will be sorely missed.
