Richard Carl Cannon, Sr. peacefully passed into the loving arms of our Lord on Wednesday, February 27, 2013. He was born May 28, 1941 in Akron, Ohio to Catherine & Garnet Cannon. The family moved to Austin in 1947.
He was a dedicated employee of IBM, retiring after 27 years of service.
Richard was a man after God’s heart, and truly loved his family. He was a selfless person and always did everything he could for everyone. He loved serving his church, Onion Creek Baptist, with his musical talents. Richard loved to sing. He was a joker, always making people smile.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Nell Cannon, their two sons Richard Cannon, Jr. (Rebecca) and Keith Cannon (Iris) and one daughter Ronda Cannon; four grandchildren: Kayla Rector, Courtney Flores, Bailey Cannon and Rebecca Cannon; one sister, Janice Spinks and one brother, Raymond Cannon and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 2:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, March 4, 2013 at the Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
