A fourth generation Austinite, Randy was a graduate of Austin High School, attended VMI and served in the U.S. Army. He graduated with a business degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Randy loved waking up early to catch the sunrise and to play a few holes of golf. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, walking in the Colorado snow, and experiencing the great outdoors. Whether it was golf or baseball, Randy wanted to hit big and dream big. When he was a student of Harvey Penick, he wanted to hit the big woods; however, Harvey taught him the shorter irons are the way to succeed.
Throughout his life, he continued to dream big even when the resources weren't immediately available -- he defined the quintessential entrepreneur. Over the years, he continued in his family's business interest and started a construction company, a real estate development company, and a helicopter company. In his sunset years, he spent time managing his real estate portfolio. Randy had a gift for capturing moments with his camera, while on tour in Vietnam (Army) he was commissioned to write stories and take pictures of events he witnessed. Thereafter, no matter where he would go, he had his camera with him snapping moments. The art of music echoed in his heart. Singing, dancing, playing the piano and guitar were a constant. He enjoyed being with his family and was so proud of each one of his children and grandchildren. His family is celebrating his life in a private ceremony and will cherish his memory.
He is survived by his sister, Peggy Jean Mueller; four children, John Martin Mueller and wife Widad, Andrew Scott Mueller and wife Sarah, Betsy Ann Mueller, Mark Randolph Mueller and wife Elizabeth, and seven grandchildren, Martin Nicklaus Mueller, Naya Noelle Mueller, Zachary Ivan Mueller, Luke Randolph Mueller, Travis Robert Mueller, Tyler Davis Mueller, and Hayden Leigh Mueller.
