Peggy Kiger Monna Peggy Kiger, resident of Austin for 53 years, died on February 23, 2005. She was born on September 14, 1924, in Zion, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Kiger, and is survived by her three children: Steven M. Kiger, his wife Marjorie of Monrovia, Maryland and their children Meredith, Douglas and Monica; Marcia L. Kiger of Austin and her children Rachel, Scott and Alec; and Philip S. Kiger, his wife Marla, also of Austin and their children, Hayden and Hudson. She is also survived by her brother Rudy Whetstone, and his wife Gloria, of Irving, Texas and their sons, Ricci and Brant and their families. Peggy graduated from Texas Tech University in 1947, and began a 25 year teaching career in Austin after Harolds death in 1961. At Brykerwoods Elementary School, she received several teaching excellence awards, and was subsequently invited to join Delta Kappa Gamma, where she served as President from 1992 1994. Peggys life revolved around her faith, her family and her friends. She has been a loyal and devoted member of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1952. Her church family was a source of many invaluable friendships and spiritual experiences, and among her activities at church, she served as Deacon and Elder. Peggys children and grandchildren were her lifes focus. She was a tireless daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother in her dedication to her family. She was also blessed with many loved and lifetime friends, and particularly enjoyed her recent home at Westminster Manor. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26th, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 27th, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Austin, Texas, with the Rev. William F. Clark presiding.
