23rd, 2018. Visitation will be held this Saturday, July 28th, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home at 1
pm followed by memorial services at 3 pm.
Nathan Mayes was born on February 14th, 1975 in Sacramento, California. He was a graduate
of Capital High School Boise, Idaho in 1995 and received his BS from Full Sail University, Florida
in 2004. Nathan was a student of the Sho-Lun Kung Fu school, in which he received a black belt.
He was employed at Bioware, and has worked at Several of the Austin area game companies
including Kingslsle, Red Fly, and Aspyr where he impressed many with technical ability. He
worked as a Lab Instructor at Full Sail after his graduation and made several friends there that
he met again in Austin. Nathan's talents were many, he was an accomplished game designer,
excellent mentor, a beloved son, brother, uncle, husband, and friend who loved to help and
teach others. He enjoyed playing games with his friends, especially online multiplayer games
with his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen, his parents Robert and Theresa, mother Louise, and
mother-in-law Kathleen, his sisters; LaResa Janousek and her husband Jason, Elizabeth Mayes,
Katherine Gray and her husband Christopher, his sisters and brothers in-law; Jennifer and Ian
Bullard, Christine Dorvee, Joseph Babson, Mark Babson, Susan and John Winstanely, Karen
Babson, Deborah Babson, Regina Babson and Patricia Babson, his nieces and nephews; Paris,
Zurich, Alyx, LeeAnne, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Evelyn, Theodore, Jessie, Mylo, Loki, Ares, Elizabeth,
Harper, Alyssa, Jason, Caitlin, Matthew, Dianna, James, Tymothy and Gabrielle, as well as,
multiple Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many dear friends.
Anyone that knew Nate will always remember his quiet and considerate nature. Nate was a
man who chose his words wisely and made sure they stood out against the noise. His
colleagues will remember his amazing technical mind and helpful nature. His friends will
remember his quick wit and ready ear to listen. He was loved by all who knew him, and his
absence will be deeply felt.
