Michael Lee Matus

Mike was born in Waco, TX on August 1, 1967 and grew up in Mart. TX where he attended Mart High School. Mike graduated of the Texas State Technical Institute (Waco). After moving to Austin, he joined Austin Energy on July 1, 2001 where he proudly worked until his untimely death.

Mike enjoyed spending time with his wife Donna, attending NASCAR events, and riding his motorcycle.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Donna Matus; daughter Kacee Marie Matus and Fiancé Dalton Steinbeck; son John Michael Matus (Stevie Grace); grandsons Brayden Lee, Michael William, Joshua Jeffrey and Brody Taylor; and granddaughter Breanne Nicole; father Marvin Matus, (Pam); mother Evelyn Dulak Clawson, (Dorian "Cowboy"); and sister Marianne Matus.

Mike is also survived by his father-in-law Donald H. England; sister-in-law Barbie Jean England; niece Taylor; nephew Sean; and brother-in-law Mark England, (Kimann); nieces Kyleigh, Kaitlyn, Kendra; nephews Andrew, Philip, and John-Mark; and step-sisters Brandi Peebles, Crissy Clawson, Julia Beck, and Ashley Westbrook.

Visitation and services will be held at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, in Austin TX. The visitation is 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2013 with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Burial will follow the service at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, TX. The Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Mike’s family at Austin Energy Kramer Lane Distribution Construction Center.
