Martha Joan Hoskins of Austin, Texas peacefully passed on August 31, 2018 with family by her side. Joan was born on September 8, 1938 in Snyder, Texas to Vernon Lavell Wilson and Martha Kelm Wilson who preceded her in death. Joan is survived by her twin sister Jean Hart and family of Newport, Oregon, her brother David Wilson and family of Austin, Texas, her children Twylla J. Mitcham and family of Floresville, Texas, Carter L. Hoskins and family of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Thomas J. Hennessy IV and family of Carlsbad, New Mexico, eight grandchildren, Crystal Elliott and family of Bay City, Texas, Thomas Mitcham and family of Dickinson, Texas, David Mitcham and family of Floresville, Texas, Jeremy Hennessy and family of Heath, Texas, Kaitlyn Hennessy of Newport News, Virginia, Shelby Hennessy of Newport News, Virginia, Allison Hoskins of Alpharetta, Georgia, Madeline Sedgwick of Carlsbad, New Mexico and nine great grandchildren, Jenette Morales, Clayton Elliott, Taylor Elliott, Thomas Mitcham, Tyler Mitcham, Connor-Lee Mitcham, Colton Hennessy and twins Autumn and Averie as well as one great-great grandchild, Anthony.
Joan was a 1956 graduate of Ysleta High School, El Paso, Texas. Joan proudly retired from General Dynamics, Hampton, Virginia in 2008. Joan was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church, Cedar Park, Texas, Memorial Baptist Church, Grapevine, Texas and Ivy Memorial Baptist Church, Hampton Virginia where she was a choir member. She was a proud Texan and devout Dallas Cowboys fan who enjoyed cheering for "her Boys". Her hobbies included word puzzles, reading novels and studying her Bible. An avid sports fan, Joan enjoyed watching all sports and spending time with her family.
Her family is comforted knowing she was saved by the blood of Jesus Christ and is now resides with Him for eternity.
A celebration of Joan's life will take place at 1:00 pm September 8th at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, Joan's family suggests donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
