Mark David Wossum

Mark was preceded in death by grandparents, John Criswell, Ernest and Gracie Wossum, and mother-in-law, Esther Garza.

Mark is survived by his loving wife Olga of 30 years, their son David, daughter Rose Cisneros and her husband Joe, daughter Felisha Valdez and her husband Max, parents David and Sandra Wossum, brother Gary Wossum, sister Treva Snodgrass, grandchildren Auburn, Zane, Aiden, Isabella, Samantha, Maxine, Jade, nieces Jennifer, Kelsey, Mackenzie, and nephew Dillon.

Mark was born in Lubbock, Texas on September 23, 1959 to David and Sandra Wossum. He graduated from Monterey High School and received an Engineering Degree from Texas Tech University in 1988. He had a very successful career that started at Texas Instruments in Lubbock and concluded with Fortna in Austin.

Mark was a loyal Texas Tech Fan until moving to Austin, where he also cheered for the Longhorns (as long as they weren’t playing against Tech). He enjoyed the outdoors and golf, loved the challenges of home improvement projects, and valued spending time with his family. A devoted father and husband, he was the rock of his family, leading by example with unwavering integrity, strong work ethic, and above all, a kind and generous heart. He was a cherished member of Austin Powerhouse Church and The Connection Church of Buda, where he grew his faith and multiplied the number of those who consider him family.

Mark was a fighter and inspired many with his character. He will be remembered for his dedication to everything he did in life, always embracing life’s challenges with an open heart and unbreakable spirit. Mark never hesitated to lend a helping hand or missed the opportunity to extend a welcoming handshake, offer a warm hug, or speak an encouraging word. Soft-spoken and humble, he inspired all who met and looked up to him as a patient teacher, mentor, and man of God.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Monday, November 16, 2015 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with Pastor Cole Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
