Marjorie "Marjo" Miller Warren

Marjo Miller Warren, beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Oct. 2, 2022, at The Hallmark in Houston, Texas. Marjo was born on May 3, 1948 at March AAB, in Riverside, California, where her father, Sidney Johnson Miller III, was a WWII Air Force Fighter Pilot and her mother, Fern Ruth Miller, were stationed before returning to their home in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Sid and Fern, both musical, passed on the love of music to their three daughters, Sandi, Marjo, and Michele with years of piano, dance, and voice lessons. Piano practice began at 5:30 am. Five days a week and there were countless contests, recitals, sports activities and church on Sunday. There was always someone on the piano!

Marjo was a straight A student, gifted in math and music. She graduated in 1966 from Stephen F. Austin High School, in Austin and The University of Texas in 1970 with a BA degree in math and a minor in accounting - rare for a girl in those days. Marjo's first job as a Systems Analyst was with Tracor in Austin, programming financial systems. She moved to Houston to work for Houston Oil and Minerals. On a business trip to London, Marjo met the love of her life, John Warren. They married in 1979 and moved to John's home in Severna Park, Maryland. Marjo always said God's greatest blessing to her was her husband John, and together they were a perfect team.

Marjo found a great job with ARINC in Annapolis as Principal Analyst. She worked there for 25 years until she retired. Her best friend at ARINC, Debbie Schanberger, said Marjo was the smartest woman most of them had ever known, a talented software engineer, thorough, precise and well respected. She never took sick leave and was the only person who showed up to work in a Maryland blizzard!

Marjo loved traveling, cruising the world, and was everyone's travel agent. She named their motor yacht "The Lonestar Express" hoping to attract and meet other Texans in the area and it worked. They docked their boat at the Annapolis Yacht Club so friends and family could stay there when visiting the Naval Academy, Annapolis or downtown Maryland events.

Marjo and John's "babies" were their two Springer Spaniels, Tuffy and Duffy, big favorites with all the kids. They never missed a birthday or family event, coming in early for Christmas, tools in hand, and ready to assemble all the toys. Their hearts were as big as Texas, inspiring everyone with their love, faith, work ethic, humor, practical jokes and Great Spirit.

It was a blessing to see the love and loyalty of Marjo's UT Tri-Delta sorority sisters, meeting together at The Hallmark each week to visit Marjo, taking her out for her favorite meal, laughing over old times, celebrating birthdays, reminding their dear friend of cherished memories before it would soon be too late. She loved seeing friends and family, and we never saw her without a big smile on her face. Lewy body dementia was attacking Marjo's beautiful brain, and her memories were fading.

Marjo was preceded in death by her beloved soulmate, John McCullen Warren, Jr. of Jupiter, Fl., her parents, Fern, and Sidney Johnson Miller III, of Austin; her beloved niece, Chelsea Nicole Denenburg, of Houston. Marjo is survived by her sisters, Sandi Miller Denenburg, husband, Victor, Chelsea's daughter, Sydney, who was six years old when Marjo first moved to The Hallmark. Sydney loved taking Marjo her favorite snack foods and playing the piano for her each week. Marjo's nephew, David Denenburg, his wife, Frani, their children, Giorgiana and Oliver, of Houston, Marjo's sister, Michele Miller Ray, of Austin, nephews, Michael Ray, his wife, Lindsey, their children, Hadley and Hudson, of Dallas, and nephew, Brian Ray, of Denver.

A Celebration of Marjo's life: Friday, Oct. 28, 2:00 pm: Friday, Oct. 28, 2:00 pm. Second Baptist Church Houston 6400 Woodway, in the Hankamer Chapel The Rev. Dr. Ben Young will be officiating. Followed by a reception in the Deacon's Parlor.
