December 9, 2024 Maria E. Procell passed away peacefully in Austin Texas. She was a mother to Billy, Procell, Beverly Adamberry, John Procell (spouse Kim}, and Paul Procell. She also leaves behind grandchildren; Natalie, Brandon, Paul Neal, Dalton, Bishope, Alexandria and she was a great grandmother to Michael. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Procell.
Maria Procell was born in Yorktown Texas on August 27, 1933 to David and Rachel Treviño. The Procell family attended Saint Austin’s Catholic Church in Austin Texas. Maria met the love of her life on a ranch in La Rosita,TX in 1954. They were married for 65 years until Bill passed away in 2021. Bill always treated Maria like a bride, “his bride”. Maria, for her part, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Their love is eternal. Visits to her home were always filled with love, joy, and laughter. Not to mention the food. It was “good food” and plenty of snacks. The snacks could always be found. If, for some odd reason, none were in eyesight, no worries, there was always a secret stash. To this day, one can still hear them call one another “Honey”.
Maria worked for Johnston High School which is a part of AISD. She worked there for 25 years as a hall monitor. She could always be spotted because of her beautiful smile. She had that kind of smile that came from within. After retirement, she could always be found outside, mowing lawns, picking pecans or found making her delicious tamales. She never stopped. She enjoyed traveling to see family, attending mass and going out to eat.
Her greatest joy was her family. She loved to have all her kids and grandkids over for the holidays. Many a times she was so focused on making sure everyone had food to eat that she would forget to eat herself. A fond memory of Mary would be of her “pinches”. These were pinches of love. Her own signature gesture to let you know or remind you, that you were very loved. An expression to prove to herself that she wasn’t dreaming and her joyous way of amplifying how blessed she was. So maybe one day when you want to remember her and express your love give that someone a “pinch”. Maria came into this world to share her love of God and family. Mission accomplished. Job well done. Amen. “Pinch”. “Pinch.”
