Margaret E. Shelton

Margaret E. Shelton “Mom” passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 at St. David’s Hospital at the age of 60. Margaret was born December 17, 1950 in Waco, TX to father, Leroy Coats and mother, Mary Young Coats.

She is survived by son, John C. Shelton and daughter in law, LaTisha Glenn Shelton, mother, Mary Young Coats, sister, Sarah Coats Kubacak, brother in law, James Kubacak, niece, Jayme Kubacak and nephews, Kevin and Collin Kubacak. Margaret is also survived by her father in law, Jack C Shelton Sr. and mother in law, Virginia Campbell Shelton, with whom she played bingo and visited twice a week. Though Margaret was a daughter in law, she was never considered any less than a daughter.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Jack C. Shelton, Jr. who passed April 25, 2004 and her father, Leroy Coats, who passed April 27, 1984. Margaret was a devoted wife, loving mother, and loyal friend, who will be missed by everyone whose life she touched. Margaret’s family, bingo buddies at the Continental, bible study members and everyone at the Texas State Comptroller’s office where she was employed for the past 24 years all mourn the passing of such a remarkable woman.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Cook Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. There will also be a reception for family and friends following services.
