Lou was born on September 15, 1935 in Alice, Texas to Louis Sr. and Pearl McCoy. He attended Texas A&M University, prior to serving in the in the United States Army. While stationed in Japan, he was an on-air radio host for the Armed Forces Radio Network. After serving in the military, he came back to Texas and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in political science. He worked for many years in communications in state government.
He enjoyed traveling, photography, animals of all kinds, Texas politics and history. He will always be remembered as an extremely social and friendly man who loved his family very much.
Lou was a wonderful husband and a loving father. He is survived by his wife Gene of 55 years, daughters Katy and Crissy McCoy of Austin, grandson Alex Fish of Cedar Park, brother and sister-in-law David and Jan McCoy of Cedar Park, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Albert Lee and his sister-in-law Margaret McCoy of Palmer, Alaska.
The family would like to thank the wonderful team of nurses and staff at Cedar Ridge Alzheimer's Special Care facility in Cedar Park and Kindred Hospice for their kindness and incredible care he received.
A funeral service will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish funeral home on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at 4:30 pm. A family graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore, Texas on Monday, August 14, 2017, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
