Lonn Bradley Lockhart, MD, 55 passed away quietly on December 8, 2010 in Austin after a brief illness. Dr. Lockhart “Brad” was born in Galveston, Texas September 3, 1955. He graduated from LaMarque High School in 1973. He attended Austin College in Sherman, Texas then received his doctorate from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He also earned a Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Lockhart practiced pediatric ophthalmology in Austin and founded Children’s Eye Center. One of his deep passions was performing eye exams on premature babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. David’s Hospitals and the Seton Healthcare Network. After a successful 25-year career in Central Texas, Dr. Lockhart was planning a permanent retirement at his ranch in San Marcos.
In addition to being a highly respected eye surgeon, Dr. Lockhart was known for his great compassion and kindness. He touched countless lives and will be greatly missed by many people. He had a strong faith in God, and professed it by talking to others about Christ. Although he left this earth too early, he is in the arms of his Savior now and at total peace He is preceded in death by his father, Leroy D. Lockhart, MD and nephew, Robert Lockhart Glen. In addition to his beloved wife, Kathy and daughter, Amanda, he is survived by his mother, Lillian Lockhart, MD of LaMarque; sister, Teri Glen and her husband, Doug of Dallas; sister, Shari Campbell and husband, Bryan of Dallas, and nieces, Kathleen and Lindsay Campbell, and Lauren Glen. The family would also like to acknowledge his office manager and dear friend of 20-plus years, Connie Vann.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 10th of December, at Cook- Walden Funeral Home. A funeral service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 11th of December, at Christ Lutheran Church, 300 East Monroe Street, Austin, Texas 78704. A graveside service will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 12th of December, at Odd Fellow’s Cemetery, Columbus, Texas.
