Leslie was born on June 22, 1967 in Galveston, Texas to Ralph Allen and Paula Leslie Lord. Leslie spent her childhood growing up in San Angelo, Texas where she attended school at David Crockett Elementary, John Glenn Jr. High School and was a graduate of Central High School. At Central High School, Leslie was a member of the Tex-Anns drill team, the French Club, the Key Club and Alta Tri-Hi-Y. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Tech University where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, a Sigma Chi "Little Sis" and a Red Raider recruiter.
Following graduation from Texas Tech, Leslie worked in Dallas for Neiman Marcus and United Medicorp where she met John Thomas Walters. Leslie and John were married on November 23, 1991 and lived in New Orleans and Houston. While in Houston, Leslie managed recruitment and program management for the MD/PhD program at Baylor College of Medicine.
Leslie and John settled in the Westlake Hills area in Austin, Texas where she loved traveling, being outdoors and reading. More than anything, Leslie loved bringing up and being with her three beautiful children – Katherine, John David and Elizabeth Walters. She faithfully served her community by volunteering in her children's classrooms in Eanes ISD, as a Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Houston and Austin Junior League and on the board of directors for Any Baby Can and Candlelighter society. As a member of Westlake United Methodist Church, Leslie taught Sunday school and served in Confirmation and Vacation Bible School programs. While in Austin, Leslie also lead recruitment and program management for the MD/PhD program at the University of Texas Medical School.
Leslie is preceded in death by her grandparents Robert Carpenter and Luella Lord, James Ward and Trent McDonnold Leslie and her parents, Ralph Lord and Paula Lord Stewart. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 24 years, John and her children Katherine, John David and Elizabeth Walters as well as her brother, David and his wife Janine and their children Olivia, Liam and Ryan Lord. She is also survived by members of the Walters family from Fulton, Mississippi, including John's parents Pat and Leon Walters, brother Steve and his wife Lisa Walters and their sons Blake and Chris Walters and sister Anna, her husband Tommy and their children Thomas and Preston Cox.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 13 at Westlake United Methodist Church at 1:00 pm with a visitation and luncheon beforehand starting at 11:00 am.
