LaRue Jane Sisak, 94, of Austin, Texas died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday February 15,2023 in bed at her apartment in The Pavilion at Great Hills. She was a very caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all.
She was born August 18,1928 in Louisville,Ohio. The daughter of William Emerson and Lena (Hawn) Emerson.
LaRue graduated Summa Cum Laude from Mount Union College with a degree in Education. She was an Elementary school teacher and even started an Elementary school at the Kalamazoo children's home.
LaRue married Nicholas Sisak in 1962, together they lived in Michigan, Ohio, and Texas (twice) and Pennsylvania . She had a lifelong love of travel and she was able to go to places that interested her such as, Israel, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Eastern and Western Europe, Great Britain, Alaska and Hawaii. LaRue’s other love was Christmas arts and crafts which she made for her family and loved ones.
LaRue was active in her church and was President of Bethany United Methodist women and a leader in many womens church circles. She was also Vice President of Lima Women's Symphony Association and founding member of Northwest Austin New Neighbors.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her brothers Otis and Jack Emerson.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Nicholas, her daughter Nancy and Denton Sullivan and her son Jeffrey and Janet Sisak. Five grandchildren , Grant and Maralee Sullivan, Anne and Martin Stehli, Brendan and Alicia Sullivan, Ryan Sisak, Payton Sisak and twelve great grandchildren.
The family will greet friends, Friday, March 10, 2023 from 12-1 PM and a Celebration of Life service will begin at 1 PM at Bethany United Methodist Church, 10010 Anderson Mill Rd, Austin,Texas 78750
