Karen Sue Shockley, 66, of Round Rock, Texas, died on Thursday, May 14, 2009. She was born on January 11, 1943, in Anderson, Indiana, to Paul Amos and Freda Gross Amos. Karen was a devoted wife and mother, and also cared for children in her home while living in Plano, TX, from 1976 to 1992. Later in life, she also worked for 7 years as a customer service associate for Wal-Mart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Freda Amos; brother, Tim Amos; and beloved Labrador, Mocha. Karen is survived by her husband, John Robert Shockley of Round Rock, TX; daughters, Lorinda Beekmann and husband Steve of Plano, TX; Lynn Carolus and husband Ted of McKinney, TX; Deborah Shultz and husband Bob of Bryan, TX; brother, Jerry Amos and wife Wanda of Orlando, FL; sister-in-law, Marian Amos of Erie, PA; grandchildren, John Derek Shultz, Corey Shultz, Aubrey Shultz, Jacob Beekmann, and Kaylea Beekmann; Molly, her beloved teacup Maltese; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be officiated by Kevin Naillieux, Ray Hoffman, and Marcus Bobb at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel in Austin, TX, followed by interment at Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, TX. Pallbearers will be John Egger, Daryl Klepzig, Bryan Klepzig, Glen Wall, Reid Ryan, and Dalton Kaye. The grandchildren will be the honorary pallbearers. Karen will be remembered for her giving spirit and faithful example. The family would like to thank all their neighbors, friends, and family for their never ending love and support of Karen. The family extends special thanks to Karen's caregivers who assisted her in her courageous battle with renal cancer. Caregivers include Dr. Eric Jonasch, Dr. Surena Matin, Kathleen Bouchillon, NP, Lisa Smith, RN, and Maisha Amusa, RN and all of the M.D. Anderson staff, Dr. Brenda Towell of Southwest Regional Cancer Center, Four Star Home Health Care, and the Hospice Austin Christopher House staff.
