Karen was born in Stephenville, Texas, on January 11, 1950, to the late Verna Jo Shelton and the late George Roath. Karen graduated from LaMarque High School in 1968.
Karen loved reading, football and sewing. Her passion for sewing allowed her to open her own business where she designed and altered wedding dresses, suits, and everyday clothing. In recent years, she was a bookkeeper for The Eyes of Texas property management company.
Karen was described by her family as a sweet, kind and generous person who always led her life with poise and grace. She loved and cherished her family and friends, and treated her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children.
"We are all so grateful to have known and loved her," her loved ones said, "and she will be greatly missed."
