June Marilyn Jones

She was born in Point-A-Pierre, Trinidad and Tobago on September 4th, 1939 to the late James and Yvonne (Pantin) Hadden.

June is preceded in death by her parents James and Yvonne (Pantin) Hadden, her brother Ronnie Hadden, and her husband Mixon Jones. She is survived by brother, Donald Hadden and wife Carolyn, and sister in law, Roses Hadden, as well as daughters Donna Jones of Austin, TX, Belinda Jones of College Station, TX, sons Stephen Jones of Plainview community, LA, Phillip Jones, Sr. and wife Denise of Southlake, TX, as well as grandchildren Benjamin Ian Jones of Austin, TX, Phillip James Jones, Jr. and wife Christiana of Southlake, Texas, and Laura (Jones) Hannevold and husband Simen of Svarstad, Norway. June was also the loving cousin and aunt to many nieces and nephews in both Trinidad and the U.S., and was endearingly referred to as "Auntie June" by so many.

As a young woman in 1959, June worked at a local French hotel in St. Anns, Port of Spain, Trinidad. There she met her future husband after his scandalizing wink that was followed by a whirlwind romance. On April 23rd, 1960, June and Mixon married at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in San Fernando, Trinidad, and eventually welcomed four children over the next 8 years.

Her adventures with Mixon continued with his career in the oilfield. They were fortunate to raise their family in Trinidad, Louisiana, Norway, Holland and eventually back to Louisiana where they settled for the last 40+ years together.

June made trips back to Trinidad as often as possible and always returned rejuvenated with stories about her loving family and friends. When back in the U.S., June enjoyed keeping in touch with friends from around the world, dancing to ABBA and calypso music, and cooking her signature Trinidad curries and pelaus for those she loved. June's family was the center of her universe at all times, but her backbone was grounded in her deep faith.

After Mixon passed in 2018, June entered a new chapter and moved to Austin, Texas, to live with her daughter, Donna. Always a social butterfly, June made lifelong friends everywhere she went and this continued in Austin where she later found great happiness and new friendships at her assisted living facility.

A private family viewing will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Later this summer, a celebration of life will be announced in Hornbeck, LA.
