Judith Dale Douglass (Robison) Connor passed away on March 23, 2024. Judy was born to Edith Wagner Douglass and Dale Artell Douglass in Oklahoma City, OK on December 11, 1936. She got home to Texas as soon as she could at the age of 6 months.
Judy grew up in Big Spring Texas where she took dance lessons throughout her school years. She enjoyed performing in recitals and for civic groups and events. She also shared her father’s love of horses, she competed in rodeos in barrel racing events.
Judy graduated from Big Spring High School in 1954 and was named “Miss Howard County” the same year. She married her high school sweetheart, Carlisle “Frosty” Robison in 1955. They had three children who survived her. Judy and Frosty were married for 28 years and stayed life long friends.
She married James R. (Jim) Connor in 1983. He preceded her in death in July, 2006.
She attended colleges at Howard County College in Big Spring and McMurry College in Abilene where she studied journalism.
She was a life-long Methodist and an enthusiastic volunteer which led to her career in Christian Education. She served as Youth Director at United Methodist Church in Big Spring and Director of Children's Ministry at First United Methodist Church in Richardson, where she attended Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, becoming a Diaconal (Service) Minister.
Judy and Jim lived in Briarcliff, where they enjoyed golfing, boating on Lake Travis and so many wonderful adventures with her kids and grandkids. Judy was a talented painter and was for many years a member of the Highland Arts Guild. Judy was also a world traveler, an avid gardener, master of crossword puzzles, and a keen bird watcher.
After Jim’s death, she returned to Lakeway where she continued to play golf, paint and volunteer and worship at Bee Creek United Methodist Church in Spicewood.
In 2019 she transitioned to Lake Travis Independent Living, where she continued to enjoy her Lakeway and Spicewood connections. There are tales of many games of 42, which lead to much laughter and companionship.
Judy’s life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, the lives she touched, and the love she shared. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will bloom eternally in the hearts of those she has left behind..
Judy is survived by her children, Douglass and Angie Robison, Daniel and Pam Robison, all of Abilene Texas. Michelle and Steven Greer of Spicewood Texas. Grandchildren, Aaron and Andrea Robison, Leah and Tim Doty, Jordan and Tandi Robison, Morgan and Cody Lindsey, Austin Simmons, Danielle Leon and Elizabeth Simmons and 15 great grandchildren.
Memorial Service celebrating Judy’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Bee Creek United Methodist Church in Spicewood Texas.
