John Allen (Jack) Watson, Sr., 88 of Austin passed away March 14, 2008. He was born June, 5, 1919 in Buda, Texas. He graduated from Buda High School, attended Westmoreland College (Trinity University) and then the University of Texas until he entered military service in 1941. As a Master Sgt., he went through three beach head landings in the South Pacific, WWII. Following his honorable discharge from the US Army, he met and married Esther Collver who preceded him in death, along with their daughter Marilyn Lorraine Watson-La Londe. They owned and operated Buda Milling Company until they moved to Austin in 1962. While employed at the State of Texas Health Department, EMS Division he also attended and graduated from St. Edwards University in 1967. He retired in December, 1984. In 1985, he met and married Petreta "Pat" Watson. Survivors include his sons: John Allen Watson, Jr. and wife Katherine "Kathie" Ann Watson and Robert Page Watson, all of Buda; stepchildren Nikki Malott McVey and husband Steven of Oregon, Ronald Joe Malott of New Mexico and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jack said that he had everything he needed, his books, his family and friends. He enjoyed his home, working with his roses and was an honorary member of Zilker Garden Club. Jack always enjoyed doing things for other people and will be greatly missed. The family will receive visitors on Monday, March 17th, 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, March 18th at the Buda United Methodist Church, 302 Elm Street, Buda, TX. Burial to follow at Barton Cemetery, Buda, Texas.
