Jack was born in Baltimore, MD on March 4, 1924, to Edith Clark and Phillip Vaeth, and was raised in the Curtis Bay area of Baltimore. Jack enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1942 and was stationed in the South Pacific during WWII. After this he moved to Austin, TX, married his wife of 62 years Mary Abraham, and had 3 wonderful children. Jack worked as a fire and safety inspector for the Capitol Complex until retirement. Later in life he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and great grandchildren. Jack was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, a member of the Austin Senior Golf Association as an avid golfer, and a member of the American Lebanese Association club.
Jack is survived by son, John Jr. of League City, TX; granddaughters, Carrie Keiper and her husband Robert of Liberty Hill, TX, and Stacey Dries and her husband Kevin of League City, TX; great-grandchildren, Branden Keiper, Lincoln, Reagan, McKinley, and Jackson Dries; and son-in-law, Ed Wallace of Austin, TX.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George; sisters, Ruth and Katherine; wife, Mary A.; daughters, Jackie Wallace and Mary E.; and daughter-in-law, Ellen Vaeth.
Visitation will be held Friday December 17, 2021, beginning at 6:00 PM with Rosary at 7:00 PM at Cook-Walden North Lamar Funeral Home in Austin, TX. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 9:00 AM at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Austin, TX. Interment will follow on Monday December 20, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Assumption Cemetery.
