John, known best as “Big John” and “Papo” was a native of Austin, Texas. He made a career in warehouse distribution, but his most notable accomplishment was his love for life. John touched the lives of every person he met. His warm heart was felt by everyone, and everyone called his home their home. “Papo” loved playing with his grandchildren, fishing on the piers of south Texas, and baking the best desserts in the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lilia; brothers, Baby Lee and Art.
John will be greatly missed by his wife of 46 years, Dee; his daughters, Angela and Celeste (Anthony). Papo’s memory will be carried on by his four grandchildren, Braden (Ingrid), Baby AC, Baby Dee, and Sloane Aveline.
John will also be remembered by his siblings, Victor (Dolores), Lilia (Joseph), Rita (Bryan); numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Papo is joining his fur-babies, Woo Woo and Brewster, while Jessie, Rocky and Zoe will greatly miss his table scraps and his side of the bed!
A Celebration of John’s life will be held at Vesper Austin, located at 3106 E. 14 ½ Street, Austin, Texas on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm. There will be a rosary at 3pm followed by a meal together and opportunities to share your fondest memories.
In his honor, please come wearing your favorite Steelers attire or black and gold. It would make him smile to see us all in his beloved black and gold Pittsburgh Steelers colors.
