Joan S. Benoit

She married L.V. Benoit in 1950, and enjoyed 62 years of marriage to her beloved. Their strong commitment of marriage was truly a blessing and inspiration to many who knew them.

Joan worked for Merrill Lynch for 41 years. She was a member of Western Hills Church of Christ. She enjoyed shopping, country music and traveling to Las Vegas and cruises. Joan cherished every moment she spent with her family and the countless number of friends she met during her lifetime.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Beatrice Blomquist; brothers, Oscar Blomquist, Waylan Gallemore and Don Gallemore.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, L.V. (Tootsie); her daughter, Beverly Hoover (Randy) and son, Randy Benoit, all of Austin; four grandchildren, Brandon Hoover (Stacy), Brittany Staggs (Micah), Zach Benoit and Ashley Benoit; and brother, Emil Blomquist (Amy).

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Drive.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Western Hills Church of Christ, 6211 Parkwood Drive. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
