Jo Beth Ryan Dobbins died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, April 4, at their home in Spur, Texas, after a 10-year struggle with Parkinsons. She was born in Floresville, Texas on September 9, 1928, graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1945 and received a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Texas in 1949. After graduation, she taught public school music in Ozona and Austin, Texas. Jo Beth married Pike Dobbins on July 19, 1952 and enjoyed almost 52 years of marriage. She enriched all our lives with the joy of music and her loving kindness to all. Through the years she served as president and was active in many womens groups such as the United Methodist Womens at Tarrytown United Methodist Church, the Womens Golf Association at the old Austin Country Club, womens auxiliary of ASHRAE and school PTAs through her childrens school years. Survivors include her husband Pike Dobbins, a brother Vernon Ryan, three children Diana Winkelmann of Dallas, Valorie Jackson of San Antonio and Tim Dobbins of Austin. Also surviving are five grandchildren Russell, Daniel and Emily Jackson and Andrew and Will Winkelmann, who will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on North Lamar, Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the Tarrytown Methodist Church on Thursday, April 8th at 3:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Austin Memorial Park.
