Jacqueline Cottle Jones

Jackie was born on Nov. 5, 1928, in Union Springs Alabama to Charles Austin and Sarah Cottle. She was orphaned at age 3 and raised by maternal grandparents, Jack and Nora Carlisle. She attended Alabama State University with and married her childhood sweetheart, John B. Jones. They had four sons: John, Robert, Donald, and David.

Jackie had a passion for people, especially teens. She was the block-mother and “safe house” for all the kids in the neighborhood while her boys were growing up. She loved to cook, teach Bible studies and sing at church, and loved her grandchildren passionately. Her quick smile infectious laugh and loving spirit endeared her to everyone she met.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Austin and Sarah; grandparents, Nora and Jack; her husband, J.B. Jones; two sisters, Margaret and Eloise; her son, Robert.

Jackie is survived by 3 sons, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service 7:00 pm on Friday, August 9, 2019 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel.

Graveside Service 2:00 pm Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
