Glenda Hitt Funk, age 82, of Austin, Texas passed away surrounded by loved ones on Monday, February 27, 2023, in Austin. Glenda was born January 15, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas to William and Nona Greer. She graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown and taught kindergarten for 26 years until her retirement from Elgin ISD.
Glenda is survived by her husband, George Funk of Austin; daughter, Carol Howard and husband Steve of Austin; daughter, Amy Hitt and partner John Pesina of Austin; stepdaughter Lisa Zolidis and Don Zolidis of Austin; and grandchildren, Kyndal, Alexis, and Beau Howard and Eric and Michael Zolidis of Austin. Glenda is also survived by her former husband, Merritt Hitt and wife Barbara of San Antonio. Preceding her in death were her parents and her twin brother, Gary Greer.
Known as “Mimi” by her grandchildren, Glenda was loved by all and will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. She was a doting grandmother, mother, wife and friend, beaming with pride for her daughters’ accomplishments and her grandchildren’s achievements and promising futures ahead.
