Gayle is survived by her sister Sylvia Gorrell; her brother Eddie Crosswhite; son Donald S. Remlinger; son Robert E. Remlinger and his wife Janet Remlinger and granddaughters Jeanette, Mary, Anna and Lilly; daughter Laurinda L. Rohrer and her husband Michael P. Rohrer, granddaughter Nicole L. Lumley and her husband Trey Lumley, their son Rowan R. Lumley; and grandson Matthew R. Rohrer.
She was born in Harlingen, TX to Eddie and Hazel Crosswhite, the third of four children. Gayle played the trombone in the Harlingen High School Band and was an active member in church. She sang in the church choir where she met the love of her life, Air Force Lt. Bob Remlinger. They married in 1959 and moved to Waco, TX where all three of their children were born.
This Texas gal was a wonderful mother! All three kids were active in scouting, sports and church. She drove them to meetings, practices and was there for just about every game or event. She was a Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, Team Mom, baseball scorekeeper, Sunday School teacher, seamstress and much more. The kids’ friends always felt welcomed and loved in their home because of her.
They moved often while Bob was in the military, from one side of the country to the other and even overseas. When the kids were in school Gayle began to work outside the home, first at a bank and then at dental offices. Finally they made it back to Texas in 1980 to be closer to family.
Everyone who knew Gayle saw her kindness, humor and sweet spirit. She reached out to others in need throughout her life and was known as a person who would listen to your heart, not just your words.
She loved the Lord and the family attended church no matter where they lived. Gayle continued in her faith by sharing with her grandchildren through studies, church camp and VBS. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
