Garrett Stephen Louis Castor was born January 1st, 1990 in Austin, Texas to Mark Stephen Castor and Lucy Castor (Martinez). He was a self-employed artist with a high intellect, obtaining his GED his freshman year of high school. During his time in school, he was awarded the Presidential TAKS award and secured the position of UIL First Chair All Region French Horn and Outstanding Soloist. He was also selected to attend the Austin Public Schools Fine Arts Academy based upon his accomplishment in the fields of Art, Music, and Writing.
He had a plethora of diverse hobbies, mostly revolving around the arts, music, guitar, beach combing, scavenging, anime', and video games among them. He viewed objects in unusual ways and created unique things from all different types of materials which led to drawings and artwork he created that were displayed at numerous locations all over Austin. He loved all types of music and collected an extensive and eclectic music library in which he knew every song, and one could often find him outside listening to music or singing at open mic nights. Starting at an early age, he began to develop his own singular style and was known for the unusual combinations of clothing he often chose to wear.
Most people described him as a generous person with a kind heart and spirit, often willing to help out another person whom he felt was in trouble or in need of assistance. He wanted to believe in the good of all people and deeply internalized feeling the pain and maladies of our world and its people. Peace, not pain, was something he strived for and it burdened him that he couldn’t eradicate the pain, suffering and injustice in the world. He was a fanciful dreamer with visions of greater things for himself and his fellow cohabitants of our planet.
He was devoted to his family and loved them very much. He was also attached to his friends whom he enjoyed in his time with them. He was also very fond of his cat, Tokyo Little Dragon, and would often request videos or pictures of her when he was away from home. He is survived by his parents, Mark Stephen Castor and Lucy Castor, and his sister Zoe Castor, all of Austin. He will be missed immensely by all who knew the best of him. He was a shining star with the blazing tail of a comet whose light upon his world and ours was extinguished far before it reached its zenith.
Acceptance and Surrender
I believe that there is absolutely something that's going to go on after this life and I believe it's that way with me. I'd like to believe, perhaps I will, I do believe this about that way for every soul on this earth and everywhere in the universe. In my world, we're all giant gods, incredible and vast, no limits, free.
