Farris “Allen” Johnson, 87 of Austin Texas passed away on Tuesday April 11th while surrounded by family at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center. Allen was born to Farris Olen and Thelma Lorita Johnson on December 23, 1935 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1954. After graduating High School, he joined the Naval Reserves. He attended the University of Texas in Austin, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1961. While attending college he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He followed up with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1966. In September 2002, Allen retired after 25 years of service as an Attorney for The Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission.
Allen was a devoted husband, brother, father, and grandfather. Allen’s greatest joys came from the relationships in his life. He was very close to his mother, father, and especially his sister. Allen’s wife Lupe and her Juarez family is where he found great happiness throughout his life. Also as an avid hunter, he formed a strong brotherhood over many years of annual hunting trips with his fellow hunting buddies.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents Farris Olen and Thelma Lorita Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lupe, of Austin; sister, Janice Brown and husband, Robert of Amarillo; his three children, Mike Johnson and wife, Mia of Castro Valley, CA; Lance Johnson and wife, Amy, of Pleasanton, CA; and Jacob Juarez of Austin; three grandchildren Sam Johnson of Castro Valley, CA; Alex and Conner Johnson of Pleasanton, CA; nephews Steven Brown, and wife Megan of Amarillo; and Douglas Brown, and wife Karin, of Abilene.
A memorial service for Farris will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, TX 78750.
